New Home Appliances – 5 Signs It’s Time For an Upgrade

Let’s face it. As long as our appliances are working, we take them for granted. Most people never think about replacing them until they break. We know what you’re thinking – if it’s not broken, why replace it. However, new home appliances can provide better performance and make household chores easier. This is especially true in the kitchen and laundry room.

So when should you consider an appliance upgrade? Here are five signs it’s time to head to the appliance store.

Energy Consumption

Does it seem like your energy bills keep getting more expensive no matter how much you try to cut back on the usage of your appliances?

The age of your appliances can significantly contribute to your energy consumption. While you may be proud of the fact that your refrigerator is 15 years old and still going strong, it is probably costing you money. An appliance that old won’t be operating at peak performance.

With everyday use, you may not notice the decline in performance as it happens slowly over time, and your food is still cold. However, older appliances naturally consume more energy than new home appliances. They have to work harder to keep up, which also increases energy consumption.

If your energy bills are out of hand, it’s time to look at your older appliances and consider replacing them.

More Work

Do you love to cook, but lately, it seems to take a lot more work? Is the casserole you always baked at 350 degrees for an hour looking a little burnt after 45 minutes?

An old stove can take all the pleasure out of cooking. If you constantly have to check on what’s in the oven because the temperature isn’t accurate, it might be time to consider an upgrade. This is especially true if your stove is an older model. If the temperature on a newer stove is inaccurate, it may just need to be recalibrated.

Then there’s the laundry room. Are you doing the usual amount of laundry but find that it’s taking you longer? Your dryer uses significantly more energy than your washer. Clothes can take longer to dry if your washer isn’t wringing them out properly or if your dryer isn’t heating up as it should.

Not only will this increase energy usage, but it will take longer to get the laundry done and off your to-do list. Again, if your laundry room appliances are old, it’s time to consider replacing them. Newer models may just need routine maintenance or repair.

To prevent any damage and protect the warranty on new home appliances, repairs should be done by a professional.

Too Much Noise

The washer, the dryer, the dishwasher, and even the refrigerator can become noisier as it gets older. If you have to leave the room to have a phone conversation or turn up the volume on the television when any of these are operating, it’s time to consider new home appliances.

Wouldn’t it be nice to run the dishwasher at the end of the day and not have the noise keep you awake at night? Or not have the hum of the refrigerator reach beyond the kitchen? Especially with today’s open floor plans, new home appliances in the kitchen can reduce excess noise and help create a more relaxing home environment.

Aesthetics

We know many people will argue that looks don’t matter as long as their appliances are working.  However, if your kitchen or laundry room appliances are old and ancient-looking, they can detract from the appearance of your entire home.

Think about it. Why do you paint your walls, get new flooring, or buy new furniture? These all help to give your home a fresh new look. Why bother if your appliances keep your home stuck in the past?  New home appliances give your home a modern look, make household chores easier, and save energy.

Ready for New Home Appliances

The average lifespan does vary depending on the appliance. When it comes to the major kitchen or laundry room appliances, once they’ve passed the 10-year mark, their performance will have declined, their energy consumption will increase, and their appearance will be dated.
